World Expands “Proof of Human” Identity Network to US

Cryptocurrency Project World announced on Wednesday that it will launch its services in the United States from tomorrow, bringing its biometric identity check system to the country where it started.

The announcement occurred during the company's “World at Last” event in San Francisco, where co-founder Sam Altman and CEO Alex Blania stressed the expansion of what they called “the largest identity and financial network centered on humans”.

Biometric verification through America

Americans will be able to check their “ID ID” from six cities – Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville and San Francisco. The company plans to deploy 7,500 of its “Orb” devices that sweep away through the United States by the end of the year, quadrupling its current global deployment.

“America should lead innovation, not fight it,” Altman said at the event. The company, founded near the South Park district of San Francisco, had previously operated in more than 160 countries but not in the United States

World has also announced a partnership with Visa to launch a payment card that will connect to the global user application portfolios, allowing them to spend digital assets in more than 150 million merchants worldwide. The global card will offer rewards for AI -related purchases, with rewards paid directly in WLD tokens with connected user portfolios. The card should be available for American users later this year.

Financial integrations and partnerships

In a separate financial development, the company has revealed an integration with Circle to bring the Stablecoin USDC natively to the blockchain of the world chain. The partnership will convert all the existing USDC Pontés held on the global chain into native USDC, which is supported by assets in cash and cash. The integration also introduces the Circle V2 cross -transfer protocol (CCTP V2) to allow faster and more profitable transfers between the supported chains.

Other announcements included partnerships with Match Group to Pilot World ID as an age verification solution for Tinder in Japan, and with Razer to implement “human proof” verification in the Robats Games. The company has also unveiled a DEFI loan platform called Morpho Mini App and a prediction market platform with Kalshi.

Rich Heley, who presented the update of Orb equipment, announced that World would open his own mounting chain in Richardson, Texas, with an American manufacturer to produce orbs not only for the American market but to help worldwide. The company has also revealed plans for a miniature version of the Orb, called “Orb Mini”, which will allow more distributed verification.

World, previously known as Worldcoin, was faced with controversy on its biometric data collection practices in certain countries. The company stresses that its verification system is designed to be preserved from privacy, with personal data remaining exclusively on user devices via what it calls “personal guard”.

The service currently has more than 26 million users worldwide, with 12 million people biometricly verified through its Orb digitization technology, according to the company's figures shared during the event.
