US Army Plans to Flood Its Forces With Drones, Every Division by 2026

Each American army division should be equipped with drones by the end of 2026, according to an official note Released by the defense secretary Pete Hegseth on Thursday.
This decision is part of a series of measures which aim to “restore the ethics of warriors” and “shrink deterrence”, wrote Hegseth.
The crew attack helicopter training must also be restructured and increased by “cheap drone swarms capable of overwhelming opponents,” he said.
The note indicates a passage of the supply cycles of one of the years for large -scale equipment of several million dollars, to what seems to be a more agile and reactive approach, wrapped in much cheaper and more adaptable systems.
Although the announcement only referred to the objective of dissuading China into Indo-Pacific, it seems to be strongly influenced by the war in Ukraine.
As Jake Epstein of BI reported, the use of Ukraine drones against Russia has become a plan for modern war on a budget.
Ukraine says it is the world's leading producer of drones, which it organizes in thousands of people. These range from major standard commercial drones attack drones used by soldiers for target surveillance and acquisition.
Russia also greatly deploys drones. A Ukrainian drone pilot told Bi that there were so many drones in heaven that soldiers can easily find themselves confused as to whom they belong.
Drones for all divisions
Each American army combat division should receive around 1,000 drones to use in attacks, travel supplies and surveillance, According to the Wall Street Journal.
The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comments from commercial initiates.
“Land Warfare went to Drone Warfare,” said Jack Keane, a retired general, in the newspaper. “If you can be seen, you can be killed.”
Hegseth's announcement also ordered the army to develop the use of counter-drone capacities, as well as AI and 3D printing between the units.
In March, breaking the defense reported that the United States was already in 3D printing small drones for training purposes.
In addition to high -tech thrust, HegSeth's note note has also presented plans to “cancel or reduce ineffective or redundant programs”, including in areas such as crew, obsolete drones and ground vehicles such as Humvees.
Other “useless” projects intended for back reduction include the maintenance of inherited elements and what the note described as “unnecessary climate initiatives”.
