Trump hopes to monitor a transaction that would turn social media operations into a US company instead of moving forward in China. Critics of the application claim that Tiktok opens US users by China to monitor and is concerned about the mental health of the application. Bytenessance and Trump have lowered the risk of an application used by 170 million Americans.

Tiktok's prohibition language gave Trump power to extend the deadline by 90 days after “significant progress” has taken place. There is no language about additional extensions.

Trump has no technically power to stop the ban. This would require a congress act. The ban was spent with a wide bilateral support in April 2024.
