The Car Colour Most Men Are Afraid to Choose… But Mercedes F1 Ace George Russell Isn’t

George Russell has just taken delivery of his $ 4.2 million (AUD) Mercedes-AMG One – A Street 1 Formula 1 car with DRS, a hybrid powertrain drawn directly from the grid, and only 275 examples built in the world.
But although the performance is predictable scandalous, it is the color that caught our attention: navy blue. Discreet. Underrated. And deeply fashionable – unless, of course, you know exactly what you are doing.

“My dream car !!!” Russell wrote on InstagramPose with the AMG a near his home in Monaco. “So honored to own this car – it's one of my dreams since I joined Mercedes F1 in 2017. Crazy that the engine is a modified version of our 2015 F1 car – the very first Mercedes F1 car that I led. What beast !!!”
He is not exaggerating. The AMG One contains 1,063 hp, goes from 0 to 200 km / h in less than seven seconds, and is responsible for Aero and Active Hybrid technology adapted from the Mercedes F1 2015 W06 car – the same Russell era cut. But behind the statistics and engineering bending is a more subtle choice: color.
Psychology behind the choice of the color of the car

Globally, most new cars are white, black or gray – practical, predictable and safe. Blue does not even make the first three. And yet, navy blue in particular is the favorite of a creator. From the gentian blue of Porsche to BMW Tanzanite, it is a color that rewards attention, playing with light, shade and shape in a way that black blacks can never. It's not for show-offs. It is for people who understand restraint.
And this is precisely what Russell's navy represents: a hypercar with the soul of an F1 monster, dressed like a gentleman, who is very George Russell, all gentleman.
AMG One: from track to tarmac

The new pride and joy of Russell are not only rare – it is the ultimate Mercedes Flex. Built using a strongly reworked version of the F1 engine it has led, that AMG is actually a trophy for those of the interior circle of Mercedes. This is why names like Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, Nico Rosberg and David Coulthard are also on the list of owners. Hamilton even bought two – one for himself and one for his father.
For Russell, he joined an already enviable garage which includes a Mercedes 280 SL 1970, an AMG G63, a C63, a SL63 and a GT S. But even among this programming, the AMG One stands out.
Why rarely choose the navy and why they should

The navy is not the obvious choice for a hypercar. It does not shout attention to traffic lights. It is not the color of the hero in a configurator. But that's the point. The choice of navy blue means you don't need your car to talk – because you've already done it. In color psychology, the navy is linked to stability, depth and quiet confidence. For someone like Russell – 3 wins, 5 posts, 18 podiums and 787 career points – the shadow says more than any sticker.
Quiet luxury, where Subtlety is the real flex
There is a reason why you do not see the navy blue splashed on posters and TVCs – this is not a shouted shade. But when applied to the most advanced road car that Mercedes-AMG has ever built, it becomes entirely something else: a movement of power disguised in discretion.

So, the next time you find yourself in gravity towards the usual suspects – black, white, silver – take a beat. Because as George Russell proves, the most daring choice you can make could be the one in which no one else thinks.
The navy is not boring. It's brilliant bloody.
