Blockchain Service Conglomerate Tether is approaching the launch of a non-custodial wallet template as a part of the Wallet Development Kit (WDK). The announcement was made by Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether and Crypto Exchange Bitfinex, today, May 9, 2025.
As the CEO pointed to X, the new instrument will be 100% open resource and accessible to all developers. Achieving cross-blockchain contact, it will have a seamless tool and clear UX for eased transfer of value to various decentralized networks.
The instrument will also provide “gas transactions,” which means it is free for users thanks to account abstraction mechanisms.
For improved security and data protection, the instrument will not support the API keys, making the user only accessing the purse funds.
Thanks to the combination of these factors, Tether's purse template will fuel the creation of a trillion new blockchain purse, Paolo Ardoino's conclusion.
The new instrument will work with “almost any chain”
The Tether CEO remained silent about the exact timeline of the new release, indicating only “soon update”. He also announced that the new instrument would be exceeding the Ethereum Virtual Machine, which is in accordance with almost any blockchain that exists.
