Secretary of State Rubio now has double role as he takes over Walz’s old job as national security adviser

State Secretary Marco Rubio has been thrown into two leading national security jobs at once as President Donald Trump forces his top-to-bottom US foreign policy revamp.

Thomas Wright, an NSC official during the Biden administration who is now a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said the National Security Adviser Post was just “more than a full-time job.”

“It's very difficult to understand the idea that you can do this part time,” Wright said.

He said he watched national security advisor Jake Sullivan and his deputy job 14-15 hours day, six to seven days a week: “I think they feel they need to do that to do the job well.”

Rubio said little in his additional role

It appears Thursday night on “Hannity,” Rubio did not ask to weigh the president's decision to tap him as the national security counselor but joke that he was bannedAdding papa to his list of many jobsBecause he is married.

But as he marked the first 100 days of Trump's latest term, Rubio applauded the president for his vision.

“I am honored by the trust that President Trump has put me in and I am proud of the work that the State Department has done in the past hundred days to implement his agenda and prioritize the Americans,” he wrote on Wednesday in a state department post.

One of Rubio's former Florida Statehouse colleagues Dan Gelber, a Democrat, said about Rubio's increased responsibilities that “Marco is probably, to a certain extent, one of the more reliable cabinet officials, if not the most reliable.”

“And I just believe that those qualities are more important in its current coherence of positions and growing portfolio,” Gelber said. “He's not a chaos person, and I'm always wondering how he can do it in an administration where there is so much chaos. And maybe that's why he's getting all these positions.”

Rubio's dual-hatted role is at the top of him serving as the acting manager of the More closed USAID and as the acting leader of the National Archives. Puts it on him in a similar position to Trump's long -term personal friend andGolfing Buddy Steve Witkoff.

How Rubio's expanded duty can be seen in the State Department

State department officials have appeared to be caught by Trump's appointment with Rubio as acting as the national security advisor. Speaker Tammy Bruce said in a briefing Thursday that he learned the news from a journalist who asked him a question about Trump's post after it appeared on social media.

Officials, however, have noted that Rubio in recent weeks spent a huge amount of time in the White House away from his Posh seven -storey state department's office on what is known as the “mahogany row,” a corridor known as the wood panel.

At the same time, these officials, who spoke on the condition that were not identified to discuss the staff's shift, said they did not expect Rubio's duties as Secretary of State to change dramatically. He still plans to travel on diplomatic missions abroad and are likely to dedicate at least some NSC management to others, they said.
