Pro-XRP Lawyer Says Ripple Lawsuit is Not ‘Over Yet’

The legal battle between the Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is one of the longest and most talked about crypto cases in recent years. In April 2024, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the SEC has come up to drop the case – as it has done to other crypto companies.

However, unlike other cases, the SEC has not officially confirmed that it is ending the Ripple lawsuit. Although, many in the XRP community are already celebrating, thinking the case is over.

But a pro-XRP lawyer warned that it had not yet been completed. He explained that some legal steps still need to happen in court before it really has been done.

Ripple legal official Stuart Alderoty, recently spoken, asked why the SEC brought the case to the first place. He said the SEC has now lowered every crypto case in the US, including its appeal against Ripple.

Alderoty explained that the SEC admitted that it could not take legal action without first explaining the rules around the crypto. Since there are no clear laws for crypto in the US, SEC cases do not last.

Now, Ripple wants to move forward – focusing on the business, working in Congress, and helping to create fair rules for the crypto. Their goal is to protect consumers, maintain bad actors, and support industry change.

In other news, Ripple announced that it would stop publishing regular quarterly reports on XRP. The company said it made this decision because the SEC used Ripple's transparency efforts against it in their legal battle.

In the Q1 2025 market report, Ripple explained that it started reports open about XRP handling and to share information that several other crypto companies offered. However, Ripple now said that those efforts did not work as planned and actually fought against them – especially the former SEC leaders.
