Defense lawyer James K. Filan has just left a huge news to the XRP community via his X account. The Ripple and dry regulation is now closer than ever.
On May 8, 2025, the Sec and Ripple filed a joint letter with judge Analisa Torres. In this document, they asked court an “indicative decision”. This means that they want the judge to confirm if it would be open to the approval of a few last stages that would officially settle the case.
According to the file, Ripple and the dry have agreed how to move forward. Now they are waiting for the judge to answer.
This is what they ask. First of allThey want the court to dissolve the current injunction against Ripple. This injunction was implemented in 2024 and blocks the undulation to violate the laws on securities again. Remove it would be a big step towards the closure of the case.

SecondThey want to release $ 125 million that Ripple has already put in the whole. The agreement indicates that $ 50 million would go to the dry, while the remaining $ 75 million would have returned to Ripple.
ThirdOnce these two things are done, dry and ripple would ask the court of appeal to reject their calls. This would officially close the file on all sides.
If Judge Torres gives the green light, Ripple and the dry will ask the Court of Appeal to send him the case. Then they will file a request to make the regulations official. Once done, they will both abandon their calls, and the case will be over.
It is a great turnaround. Barely a year ago, the SEC asked the $ 125 million and the difficult restrictions in Ripple. Now Ripple can only pay $ 50 million and leave with most of the money.
The XRP community has been waiting for this moment for years. Many consider this case as a major test on the way in which American regulators deal with crypto. A clear victory for Ripple could also bring a new momentum for XRP.
All eyes are now on Judge Torres. If it gives the green light, this long legal battle could finally end.
