My Wife and I Travel for Free by House Sitting for Strangers

My wife and I dreamed of traveling the world, but doing it without accumulating a huge debt seemed to be a fantasy.

So, to make a semblance of this dream, we worked hard and saved throughout the year to offer us an annual Christmas holidays. We have done so for about five years but we have never been satisfied.

Putting money aside for more vacation has been a fight because of the bills and our mortgage, however, and we never thought that our reality would change.

Then, in 2021, we met an old friend who told us intriguing travel stories and showed us photos of all the different places where he had gone, like Bali, India and Prague.

We thought that the only way he could afford to travel so much that he won the lottery or that he had entered a great inheritance, but he had not done so. He left us on his secret that changed everything: the house seated.

We saved more than $ 1,000 during our first sitting concert at home

After having passed an initial background verification, we configured a profile, were checked and immediately started to apply to the open announcements. We landed our first sitting concert at home a month later.

Our first list was in Canada, where the owners of the house left for a week's vacation. We took care of a rottweiler named Rocket, watered the interior plants and spent time swimming and sunbathing around the pool.

We had an incredible vacation without spending a penny in accommodation or flights. This saved us about $ 1,600 – $ 1,300 for two round -trip economic flights and $ 300 per week for a car rental, which the owners agreed to pay.

Some owners will pay these types of expenses, such as travel and transport, while most others will not – we only opt for opportunities that pay.

We also maintained the travel costs by taking advantage of a low -cost day excursions, chatting with the inhabitants and visiting the Niagara falls, which is free to see on the Canadian side, apart from a small parking fee.

In addition, the owners were also kind enough to pay US $ 100 per day for the grooming and the dog's walk and the coordination of mail packages. It was one of the few concerts we got – most of them just offered us free trips and accommodation.

The seated house was a great way for us to travel with a budget

We treat the house of the house as a side concert and work on the work in our holiday schedules. Until now, we have landed more than fourteen concerts in terms of house in two years.

We use some different sites and generally choose stays that last from two to 10 nights. We even have some repeated concerts along the way.

Locally, in the United States, we went to Portland, Santa Fe, Charleston and Upstate New York. Our international sitting at home concerts, however, were by far the most exciting.

Some memorable countries that we have visited include London, for a quick three -day experience with a home cat. We arrived at the London bridge.

We also traveled in a rustic villa in Tuscany, spent two weeks in Sydney, Australia, and lived in a colonial house colored for seven nights in Merida, Mexico.

We always aspire to the local life of the Yucatan, with Quesadilla stands, fresh products all around and coffee riquet – a wonderful jewel hidden with Mexican specialties and a beautiful art for sale, a few pieces that we brought home.

The house session was sometimes difficult for us

We have met difficult owners along the way.

Some have strict rules concerning pets who do not enter their main rooms or do not clean the house twice a day, which forces us to be more proactive and to do our best to do everything to their taste.

We also interacted with pets who took the time to warm up. Some memorable experiences include meeting three house snakes (whose owner did not warn us) and a pair of pacaws who would withdraw in their cages and would mobilize their feathers when they heard us approach.

We had to practice patience to see some of the jobs. However, the house house was an excellent opportunity to travel more with a budget.

Overall, the advantages prevail over the disadvantages for us, and we plan to continue to be seated in the foreseeable future. We do not know where our next trip will take us, but we are looking forward to.
