How To Remove A Deepfake Video Of Yourself On YouTube

Deepfake videos generated by AI are already flooding social media platforms like YouTube. Women are targeted disproportionately by Deep Fakes, with explicit IA images and videos that spread online.

Fortunately, YouTube recognized the severity of this problem. The platform now offers a means to those who think they have been deeply made in a video for submitting a case for having declared that the video has been deleted.

Here is a step -by -step guide on how to do it.

Delete a Deepfake video

First, YouTube's policy on Deepfake Content indicates that: “If someone has used AI to modify or create content that looks like you, you can request that it be deleted. In order to qualify for deletion, the content should represent a realistic or synthetic version of your resemblance. ”

In other words, you must be convinced that the Deepfake video looks like you. If you are sure that is the case, here is how to proceed.

Step 1

Go to support.google.com/youtube. You will be taken to the youtube help center.

Step 2

Scroll down until you see “policy, security and copyright”. Click on it and a drop -down list must appear.

Step 3

On the drop -down list, click on “Privacy and security center”. You will be taken to a new page.

Step 4

On the new page “Center for confidentiality and security”, on the column on the left of your screen, you should see the subject “protect your identity”. Click on it. You will be taken to a new page.

Step 5

On the new page is a sentence written in fat: “Report a synthetic content generated by Ai-Ai that looks like you.” Scroll to these words linked in blue: “Confidentiality complaint». You will be taken to a new page.

Step 6

Scroll down and click on “Continue”> “I always want to submit a complaint in terms of confidentiality”> “Continue”> “I examined community guidelines”> “Continue”> Select from one of the three:

  • Report the use of your image or your name
  • Report the use of other personal information
  • Report modified or synthetic content

Complaint in YouTube

As an example, we clicked on “Use of your image or name report”. You will now have to fill out the following form. Once you are done, click on “Submit”.

YouTube's position on Deepfakes

YouTube's current position on Deepfakes, as shown in the above, is reactive. The video streaming giant has no policy that explicitly prohibits the distribution and circulation of Deepfake content, but tries to protect users who could have been raped.

On the Youtube help page, the company's disinformation policy stipulates:

“Certain types of deceptive or deceptive content with a serious risk of blatant damage are not allowed on YouTube.

However, the parent company of YouTube Alphabet, which also has Google, fiercely pushes AI's features as Gemini in its main products. How would that affect youtube's current policy? We will just have to wait and see.
