Kristi Noem, Head of Internal Safety, says that the current ID -non -not -not -passengers can fly now, but may -that -toe must deal with additional screening

Passengers who have not received a Pretty id This week's deadline was confirmed by the Head of Homeland Security that they could fly after additional identity controls. His comments arrived on Tuesday when people waited for long lines outside the government's buildings in Chicago, California, trying to refresh their IDs before the long term.
Kristi NoemSaid the congress panel that 81% of passengers already have IDs that meet true ID requirements. He said that security checkpoints would also accept passports and tribes when the deadline reaches Wednesday.
Those who still have no identification that correspond to the true ID law may be directed to another line, is an additional step, “said Noem.
“But people are allowed to fly,” the woman said. “We make sure it is as smooth as possible.”
The Transport Safety Administration warned people who have no real identity card to appear early and be prepared for advanced screening to prevent delays.
“I have no faith that it will cause people to make their own flights when they take that extra time,” said New Jerseys Thomas Carter, Federal Federal Director of TSA. “I think the self -responsibility of the law they need to know will give themselves this extra time, and if they do, they should not have a problem.”
Throughout the country, government agents expanded their working hours to meet. However, some people were waiting for hours on Tuesday to get a real identity card before the long -term deadline.
Renel Leggett, a college student from West Chester in Pennsylvania, spent hours in getting his true identity card and was not happy.
“I've been here for three hours to get one ID card if I have already had one that should have lasted until about 2029,” Leggett said.
“You have to do it. But it seems like a waste of time,” she said.
The Real ID is a federal license or identification card issued to the requirements, which, according to domestic security, is a more secure form of identification. This was a recommendation from the September 11 Commission and was signed in 2005.
The Commission advised the Government to establish a security standard for driving license and IDs issued by the state. It was to be introduced in 2008. However, implementation has been repeatedly delayed.
In addition to the need for a real identity ID to fly home, people also need access to certain federal buildings and facilities.
In recent weeks, noem has warned the American public about the upcoming deadline. In a TV advertisement displayed by internal security, he warned that these IDs were needed to enter air travel and public buildings, adding: “These IDs hold our country safely.”
The driving license compatible with the true ID has a symbol (In most states the letter) In the upper corner of the card.
In California, about 58% of all driving licenses and ID card holders have a real ID. The state has extended the lessons of some motor vehicles until June 27 to help more people get federally necessary identification. Officials also remind residents that if they already have a valid US passport, they can use it and wait for a real identity card to renew their ID or driving license.
Lucas Krump drove from Newark to San Francisco on Tuesday in New Jersey and said he would use a passport to achieve security.
“I don't have a license that is a real ID,” he said. “I would question the surrounding bureaucracy. It seems like attacks on everyday people, upgrading their licenses and all their identification for something that really, you know, seems to have been fine without it.”
There were no long lines on Tuesday at the Jackson Leadership Services Bureau in the state of Mississippi and people received their real identity cards quite quickly.
Marion Henderson said before he planned to travel this year in California, Michigan, Chicago and New York and wanted to be ready.
“Even if I have my own license, now that it is necessary, I wanted to move on and make a deadline before, Henderson said.
