John Deaton slams calls for leniency in Sam Bankman-Fried case, urges further charges

While some members of the cryptographic community thought that Sam Bankman Fried had been sentenced to unjust and too serious sentence, lawyer John Deaton asks to postpone.

The former candidate for the American Senate to represent the Massachusetts believes Bankman Fried deserved his punishment each year and even asked that his parents be charged.

Some demand that the 25 -year sentence from Bankman has been excessive

A member of the cryptographic community sparked a debate on the sentence of Bankman Fried. In a post X, he noted that the punishment of the founder of the FTX was too severe.

He argued that the scholarship users were fully interest. He continued that the exchange was not entirely bankrupt and had only liquidity problems. He even thinks that the FTX scandal was not a case of deliberate and malicious fraud, but unhappy mismanagement fueled by ideologies such as utilitarianism and effective altruism.

His comments, however, were not taken lightly, and some criticized him for defending SBF. Nevertheless, the report by “Zach” said he did not think that the founder of the FTX was innocent, but he found a 25 -year sentence without parole for mismanagement and excessive bad decisions.

Lawyer John Deaton thinks that SBF parents should be in prison

Unlike Zach, John Deaton said that SBF's sentence was justified, believing that he deserved his 25 -year sentence.

Deaton even went so far as to say that the parents of SBF should have been charged. Responding to the post X of Zach, he pointed out: “Not only did he deserve 25 years, his father, Joe Bankman, and his mother, Barbara Fried, also deserved to be in prison. Even his so-called altruism was fraudulent, proven by evidence subject to the trial in the form of his private messages. ”

Deaton added that Bankman Fried had not yet shown remorse for any of his crimes. In addition, he argued that the accusations of fraud to financing the campaign against the SBF should never have been rejected. He even called Pam Bondi, the former prosecutor general of Florida, to reopen the case.

He said the charges had only been abandoned because the case involved several elected officials. He said SBF even contributed $ 10 million to the Biden administration, after which former SEC president Gary Gensler met him several times.

Nevertheless, some members of the cryptographic community believe that Sam Bankman could receive a leniency because federal prosecutors have attenuated their grip on cases of crypto. Recently, regulators have paid more attention to crimes related to cryptographic assets, leaving the rest in the hands of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Speaking with the commentator and the host of Tucker Carlson, Bankman Fried admitted that he could stay in prison until the end of the fifties without any intervention. However, the changing dynamic in Washington is hope that it could be pardoned, as was the case with the former CEO of Bitmex, Arthur Hayes.

Freed Bankman has recently been transferred to the federal correctional establishment of the low -security Terminal Island. Before that, it was located at the Victorville average security center, a notoriously violent place, according to to the company Consultant in prison Elizabeth Franklin-Best.

Samuel Goldfaden, partner of the law firm centered on the Crypto DLT Law, said that if his former establishment was violent, Freed Bankman had been detained in a safer part of the establishment.

According to Goldfaden, Sam Bankman has spent most of his detention in the more secure dormitory units of MDC Brooklyn, alongside other high -level prisoners such as Sean P. Diddy to ensure his safety.

Terminal Island, which once housed the notorious gangster Al Capone, the criminal and the head of the American worship Charles Manson, and the defender of the LSD Timothy Leary, currently welcomes more than 900 detainees, including other fraudsters condemned as the video game entrepreneur Mouli Cohen.
