Zelle alternatives
Zelle does not have a standalone app until April 2025. Zelle is very convenient, but only for those with bank accounts in her program. Check other P2P payment apps if you want to explore other options:
- Cash app. The cash app is a Peer-to-Peer payment service similar to Zelle that allows you seamlessly to transfer money using only one mobile app. But what's different from the cash app from Zelle is that there is also an option to get a visa debit card for ATM removal.
- Paypal. Although Zelle is free of charge, it only works within the United States. Paypal, on the other hand, may come with some fees, but allows you to send money to people in other countries. You can also shop online with your PayPal balance, PayPal Debit Card or PayPal Credit Card.
- Clever. The wise is another solid choice for sending money around the world. It's not like Zelle right away for our transfers, but it offers low fees and real exchange rates when you send money abroad.
- Venmo. Like Zelle, Venmo doesn't charge you to use the service. However, with Venmo, the money sent to you will not be automatically deposited in your bank account. Instead, Venmo is like a digital purse that holds money for you before you can move the value to your bank.
- Pay of Google. Google Pay lets you send money to friends and family directly from your phone or email. It is available for both Android and iOS users, and it also includes your bank account or debit card.
Bottom line
You can use Zelle in the Bank of America if you have a fitted Bank of America Consumer or Business Deposit Account. This means you can easily send and receive money from your BoA mobile app without having to download a separate app.
Don't worry if you're not a Bofa customer yet. Bank of America is not the only bank that works with this mobile payment app – compare more top banks that support Zelle.
