China’s BYD makes $1.3 billion in Q1 2025, surpassing Tesla yet again

Byd said 9.15 billion yuan in net profit for the first quarter of 2025, beating Tesla for the second time in less than a year.

The number came higher than 8.1 billion analysts yuan forecast. Tesla's Q1 figure? A weak 409 million dollars, displayed earlier this week. Byd's performance has given the best -selling car brand in China an advance not only in units, but also to take advantage.

Byd brought in 170.36 billion yuan income from January to March. It is 36% higher than the same quarter in 2024.

But even with this growth, the company has missed the expectations of analysts concerning sales. What did not fail, however, was his profit. This period – generally a slowdown for Chinese car manufacturers due to the lunar new year vacation – has not struck byd as before.

Byd avoids pricing risks and targets new markets

Car sales for the quarter have almost reached 1 million units, setting up byd for its annual objective of 5.5 million, including 800,000 exports. Society is not even worried about Donald Trump's automotive rates. Trump, now back to the White House, has again slapped prices on foreign car manufacturers. But Byd does not sell passenger cars in the United States that he is looking elsewhere.

South America and certain parts of Southeast Asia are high growth targets for Byd, where EV demand is climbed. The company also builds a factory in Hungary, which should start production at the end of 2025. With the purchase in Europe and Blocked America, Byd is concentrated without losing money.

At this week's Shanghai Shanghai Fair, Byd held the field against European rivals like BMW and Volkswagen. They deployed the Luxury Yangwang U8L SUV, showed the sports car Denza Z at the concept and the Dynasty-D series. These are not cheap rides. The push in more expensive models indicates a plan to increase beneficiary margins, not only car sales.

New fractional stock and fast charge battery attracts attention

This week, byd also divided its stock. For 10 shares, investors obtain 8 bonus shares. In addition, they will issue 12 reserves capitalization actions for 10 actions issued. This decision imitates what Nvidia and Tesla have made in recent years. Tim Hsiao, analyst at Morgan Stanley, wrote that the strategy could help Byd “contact a wider group of investors”.

Just before publishing its first quarter income, Byd announced a new battery system. It can charge 400 kilometers in five minutes. This system is entering Han L and Tang L. L. Le Han L begins at 270,000 yuan. Tang L begins at 280,000 yuan. The two models arrive on the market this month.

Tang L was also exposed to the Shanghai Show. It is a seven -seater all -wheel drive, and has three different versions. The top model goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds: corresponding to the Porsche 911.

Friday, the actions listed in Hong Kong of Byd closed 1.7% more. This pushed year -round winnings close to 50%. The company has already displayed a leap of 24% in 2024 and growth of 11% in 2023. The figures speak for themselves.
