What is the world of cryptocurrency?

The card visualizes the interest of research for different parts by country, data from Google Trends.

Google Trends normalizes research data to facilitate comparisons between terms. Consequently, a percentage of 60% for Bitcoin and 15% for Ethereum means that the search volume for “bitcoin” is four times higher than that of “Ethereum”.

The main points to remember (2021)

• Bitcoin's “research domination” increased in 2021 from 80% to 60%, but it is still the most sought after cryptocurrency in all countries.
• While “Ethereum” is number 2 in the world, in the United States, “Dogecoin” had almost twice as much research volume as “Ethereum”.
• Compared to 2020, the top 10 are no longer “Bitcoin Cash”, “Monero” and “Iota”
• It seems that South America leans more towards Bitcoin while the East is more open to altcoins
• In Salvador, 98% of the research volume concerned Bitcoin.

The main dishes to remember (2020)

• Bitcoin is by far the most sought after room in all countries. This is not surprising.
• The market capitalization classification does not reflect the classification of research volumes. Dogecoin is not in the top 30 by market capitalization, for example. However, it is placed in the top 10 most sought after cryptocurrencies.
• South America seems to be the most “bitcoin” maximalist continent, with 4 countries making the top 10.
• Asia seems to be very open to other cryptocurrencies. (Or maybe they simply confirm the game stereotype 😉).
• Germany stands out as the only country in the world with more interest in Iota than in Ethereum.

Why were some pieces missing?

The interest of research for “terra”, “shiba inu” or “polygon” is ambiguous because people also look for these terms in different contexts. “Tron” could be overwhelmed in data due to the film Tron and the Audi e-tron

Missing parts are also missing with an insufficient search volume (<1%) compared to bitcoin.
