Over the years, Small has dealt with many people with a slight cognitive impairment, and many remain relatively stable with interventions such as lifestyle and medication changes. “There is a lot of perspective to discover,” says Small. “But you can do a lot to keep your mind healthy, and even if you have a diagnosis of early dementia or light cognitive disabilities, it is not a reason to run away.
