Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson unveils shift in 2025 development model

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced a move to the project development model for 2025. The new approach will introduce engineering teams with the goal that the goal is to achieve a faster implementation of platform development goals.

According to Update. While this approach ensures that the project achieves high quality code quality and network stability, it comes at a cost, seeing a slower controlling feature and limited community involvement.

Cardano announced the new shift for the 2025 development model

The Cardano founder noted that although the previous model was effective for safe development, it was separated by those who contributed and reduced project growth. “In the beginning, there was a philosophy that was strict, safe, and effective, but it was also deeply separated by many who wanted to contribute, preventing new ideas from entering our ecosystem, and resulted in a very slow delivery of features,” Hoskinson said.

He added that the original team didn't want deadlines, prioritizing perfect skills, and taking long-term views, often thinking about years or decades. He added that the project had benefited from it because unsafe skills spread throughout the industry, it also had difficulty developing and growing Cardano.

Cardano is now looking to change that, with the company now carrying smaller, independent teams. Structural changes aim to improve the speed of the platform transmission and encourage different ecosystem contributions. Groups such as Aiken and Midgard, according to Hoskinson, will now contribute to the ecosystem. He also noted that in addition, formal IOG methods, which continue to use the UNTI for safe implementation, will also contribute.

Hoskinson targets 2026 for upgrading Ooboros Leios

According to Hoskinson, this new development will also ensure that this new multi-client and multi-team approach is a race of competition in terms of ideas and techniques, allowing them to come together while providing flexibility for new protocols and using cases. “We are opening the ecosystem,” he said, “the small teams raised in the wake … while maintaining the knowledge and strictness of our formal method.”

In response to community concerns about the conclusion of major contracts, Hoskinson made a direct explanation. He noted that he wanted to bring the date for updating Ouroboros Leios. “Since I liked Leios in 2026, not 2028, and I appreciate pragma and various ideas and implementation. There are no more games or delays. Noteworthy, Ouroboros Leios is a major upgrade of scalability that is expected to enhance transactions through transaction and network efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Cardano community accepted the news positively, along with a commentator who praised the project's development in areas such as scalability, interoperability, and management. “I think we move faster than ever before, and I personally enjoyed this happening in a bull year,” the user added. Another user shared in the belief, noting that the only way of decentralization can develop is to meet competition and collaboration, adding that new teams are fuel.
