Vince Vaughn plays a mourning son who honors his late mother by opening an Italian restaurant with a group of local grandmothers as chefs, allowing them to share their traditional dishes with others.

The film is vaguely based on the true story of Joe Scaravella, which opened the restaurant of Staten Island called Enotca Maria after the death of his mother and employed several grandmothers from different parts of Italy to cook regional food.

“A Deadly American Marriage” focuses on the horrible death of Jason Corbett, who was killed by his wife, Molly Martens Corbett, and his father, Thomas Martens, former FBI agent in 2015.

Molly and Thomas, who said he had acted in self -defense, were found guilty of second degree murder In 2017 and sentenced to 20 to 25 years in prison. The verdict was canceled after a call and the couple obtained a new trial. In 2023, they accepted an agreement on the accusations of voluntary homicide.
