I went to see Lady Gaga in Brazil; It was perfect

This essay based on a conversation with Victor Nasciment. It is edited for length and clarity.

In February, I heard that Lady Gaga could come to Rio de Janeiro to make a concert for free in May. I knew I wanted to be there for it.

In May 2024, I was at Madonna Rio's performance-this was once an event in my life. Nothing was done in Rio before.

Lady Gaga was perfect for the weekend because we planned in advance.

We booked for 4 weekends hotel beans before he confirmed the date

In March, to guarantee that I would have a hotel booked to see Lady Gaga, my eight Gei -Friend group at the Rio Hotel was booked for four weekends, knowing that we could cancel weekends that we would not need if we learned the confirmed date of the concert.

Confirmed that the concert will take place on May 3RdSo we booked our flights and canceled the hotel reservations that we wouldn't need.

We flew to Rio on Thursday because it was a working day in Brazil. I worked a bit on Friday morning and then in the afternoon, at about 2 pm, we headed to the beach to enjoy the perfect weather.

Everybody on the beach talked about how Lady Gaga had to do a sample and helico check on the beach, so we waited all day, hoping to see him.

We saw him quite close to the sample

At 8pm he started the sample and performed the whole concert. We were so close to the stage, on the first screen. People ran off the streets, screaming with excitement to hear him. It was almost as great as watching the concert itself.

People already saved places for the next day. They were superfants in war mode.

On Saturday we did not leave our hotel before 6pm because the hotel was only a 15-minute walk from the beach. We did not have to go to the subway or pass the checkpoints. It was really simple.

We went to the drinks but did not drink much because we didn't want to run to the toilet during the exhibition, and then walked to the third screen to wait for the show. We were standing for hours until Lady Gaga came out at 10pm, made friends with the people around us, shared food with each other – it had a community feeling.

But I know my experience of entry wasn't the same as everyone's. Packed transport, security checks and long lines made it really difficult for many people to get to the beach.

The show was incredible

When he started performing, we watched, jumped and screamed for two and a half hours. It was incredible. People were dressed like Lady Gaga, crying through the concert.

Everyone is surrounded by either LGBTQ+ or a community supporter. It was such a special moment – to see 2 million people who waving the LGBTQ+ flag, especially now.

Instead of leaving the crowd, we stayed and watched follow-up, DJs until the beach was identified. When we left to get food, the beach was much quieter. I finally got back to the hotel at 3 o'clock in the morning

I spent about $ 700 in Rio for 5 days

I left on Monday and I had the best weekend. I wouldn't change anything. I think my experience was so good because I still planned in advance. It was a perfect weekend – something I will never forget.

The city paid for the concert to revive the Rio economy. During a five -day stay, I spent about $ 700 on hotels, trips, parties, foods and drinks.

The concert changed May a weekend, where nothing else would have happened. But instead, they put on a very welcome event that brought a lot of tourists who spent money.

It wasn't just good for the Rio economy – it's great for Rio. Everyone talked about the city on the web.

There are talks that Beyoncé may come next year, and if that's the case, I'll come here with the same friends.
