- Trump told NBC's “Meet the Press” on Sunday that he had a “hot place” for Tiktok.
President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he would offer Tiktok another extension if the application of social media would not find a buyer by the deadline of June 19.
During an appearance on NBC's “Meet The Press”, Trump told the host Kristen Welker that he had a “warm place in his heart” for Tiktok and that he would like to see the popular app remain available in the United States.
“Tiktok is-it's very interesting, but it will be protected,” he said in a pre-tapped interview in his Mar-A-Lago club on Friday.
This is the last development of the current saga involving Tiktok in the United States.
In 2020, Trump undoubtedly tried to ban Tiktok in the United States because he believed that his Chinese owner, Bytedance, posed security problems. He also suggested once it was a form of punishment for what he considered the role of China in the COVID-19 epidemic.
Former President Joe Biden then picked up the stick, signing a law last year which forced Tiktok to depart from Bytedance or to face a ban on American application stores.
The United States Supreme Court confirmed the law in January. Tiktok then briefly arrested its application to American users before Trump promised to find a solution.
Trump started changing his air on Tiktok during his campaign in 2024, during which he said that young people in the United States “would go crazy.” Many observers have credited Tiktok's scope by helping Trump connect with a wide strip of voters, especially among young Americans who dominate the user base of the application.
After Trump took office, he signed a 75 -day extension for Tiktok to find a buyer, who expired on April 5. On April 4, Trump announced that he would publish another 75 -day extension.
A number of rich Americans have publicly expressed their interest in the purchase of Tiktok, including the “Shark Tank” magnate Kevin O'Leary and the YouTube power creator Mrbeast.
