Actor Ben McKenzie targets the crypto with ‘Everybody Is Lying to You for Money’ documentary

The actor and criticism of ben McKenzie cryptography aims at the cryptography industry with a new documentary “Everyone is lying to you to money”. According to reports, the actor will make his director's debut in Sxsw London when the documentary is presented in June.

The documentary was written, produced and produced by McKenzie, with the contribution of Giorgio Angelini. He was also filmed over three years in places in New York, London, El Salvador, Miami and Austin.

The documentary follows McKenzie, who is best known for his roles on “Gotham” and “the OC”, while investigating the cryptocurrency industry and interviews key industry personalities. He notably made a trip to Salvador to examine the regime of President Nayib Bukele, who obtained the legal Bitcoin in 2021.

The documentary presents an interview with the FTX disgrace founder Sam Bankman Fried, with the filming made for months before being charged with multiple accusations of fraud and conspiracy. Sam Bankman Fried was finally sentenced to 25 years in prison in more than three years of supervised liberation. The court also ordered him to pay around $ 11 billion in confiscations for having carried out several fraudulent diets.

The documentary also presented Alex Mashinsky, the founder and former CEO of Celsius Network. At the end of last year, Mashinsky pleaded guilty to fraud of several billion dollars and market manipulation. He was accused of having attracted retail crypto investors in the investment of billions on his platform under false promises that their investments were at low risk.

The court said that instead of protecting users' funds, he put them in more risky bets, secretly using their funds to support the Cel token price.

In addition to these personalities, the documentary highlights the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, and his affection for the cryptography industry. Nayib Bukele was a fervent supporter of the industry, in particular Bitcoin. Bukele continued to buy Bitcoin, although a slowed down rate because of what many believe that the country's arrangement restrictions with the IMF. In addition, the country has removed the compulsory clause on the acceptance of Bitcoin as a call for tenders.

McKenzie highlights the evils of the cryptographic industry

In his interview with DeadlineMcKenzie said how he drew little attention after warning people in 2021. “When I started to warn people of cryptographic fraud in the fall of 2021, I caught a bunch of online bros flak,” he said.

He added that almost all guys are now in prison, and many investors have lost a lot of money with these crooks. In his documentary, McKenzie presented other celebrities, a pseudonym denunciator and several victims.

The culmination of the documentary presents McKenzie, who had explored the cryptography industry in 2021, while the world was torn from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic (COVVI-19). Since then, he has been a vocal critic of industry, even going so far as to testify before the banking committee of the United States Senate on the collapse of the FTX.

During his testimony, he called Crypto “the greatest scheme of Ponzi in history”. The documentary also presents his family life, showing snapshots of the life he shares with his family and how boredom led him to seek crypto.

He had previously published a book in 2023 entitled “Easy Money: Cryptochete, Casino Capitalism and The Golden Age of Fraud”, with journalist Ben Silverman. The book has explored many of the themes on which the documentary will address.

“Why is the false story of the crypto still propagating? This is the question I started to answer with this film,” said McKenzie. He also added that he was enthusiastic about the documentary, noting that “I cannot wait for the public to see” everyone will lie to you for money “, a comedy that treats crypto and creeps shilling with the respect they deserve: zero.”
