Gala Games to shut down The Walking Dead NFT game after July 31

The Gala Games announced plans to close the Walking Dead NFT game on July 31. According to the publisher, the game playing NFT, called after the famous TV show, will close and users will no longer be able to play it after the date.
Walking Dead: Empires is a multiplayer safety Game That was built around the Ethereum NFT. The game was opened to players in its beta version of the beta last year after developers announced its creation in 2021.
“After the careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to sink the Walking Dead: Empires, along with the final playable date set for July 31, 2025,” the Gala games wrote in a statement this week.
Gala Games To Stop Walking Dead NFT game
The Walking Dead NFT game is available for playtests in early 2023, with the game that commands players to make weapons, build bases, and fight for safety. Players will be charged to maintain a safe distance from zombies or “pedestrians.” To enhance the gaming experience, users are allowed to buy NFT in the form of supplies, weapons, or works to generate a safe base.
Unlike some in-game items missing from a player's inventory, The Walking Dead: Empires ensure that their NFT-based items will not be damaged. As prices dropped significantly from the bull market period, some in-game items have seen their price shooting over the last few years. According to data from the Opensea Marketplace, legendary land claims, for example, sold nearly $ 67,000 in 2021.
In 2023, when the game is still available for playtests, users are still asking for leading dollars in some items. For example, NFT -based handgun sells nearly $ 30,000 at that time, with some lower level items also costs $ 1,000.
Today, most of these items have been rendered useless after developers announced plans to close things.
Users show unpleasant -herself in development
In return for players, Gala games have plans to distribute other NFTs from playing with gaming to users. The platform says it will give those who have “equal operations” in their existing The Walking Dead: Empires NFT Holdings.
“As the game ends, we remain focused to ensure that these NFTs continue to have the utility,” its statement reads. “As part of the sunset process, we will distribute new NFTs of equal operation to other Gala Games products in TWD: E NFT HOLDERS.”
As expected, users have shown mixed emotions towards the news, with most of them who do not take the news with good faith. “The Walking Dead: Official rugs on the wanderer,” Says The crypto -playing personality Jesus Martinez in X (formerly known as Twitter). “People pay up $ 10K+ for lands and are now getting $ 2 mystery boxes.”
Other players also followed the same opinion, with a user saying, “Gala mastered the Art of Frontend Extraction and Backend not delivery. Beyond the blatant at this point. Add it to the list of money grabs that have no intention of fulfilling.”
The platform also noted that holders of The Walking Dead: Empires NFTS, such as the Snapshot that occurred on April 29, will receive boxes containing items depending on the type and extraordinary of their walking NFT.
Walking Dead IP also featured NFTs on the ELUVIO blockchain in addition to a partnership with the Ethereum Metaverse game, the sandbox. The NFT game was modeled after the post-apocalyptic zombie show, based on a popular comic book, and ran 11 periods and 177 stages, with many shows spinning in the original.
