UFO town Roswell becomes first US city to hold Bitcoin reserves

⚈ Roswell became the first American city to create a Bitcoin reserve from donations.
⚈ Funds aim to reduce senior water bills and support emergency emergency services if necessary.
⚈ Reserve locked for 10 years, with limited expenses authorized after exceeding $ 1 million.

Roswell, New Mexico, famous for an UFO incident that would have taken place near the city in 1947, became the first city in the United States to establish a Bitcoin reserve (BTC).

The news was first broken by a pseudonym cryptocurrency youtuber Cryptocurrency in a April 30 x post.

According to the shared document, the Roswell Bitcoin strategic reserve received a donation of “first seed” of 0.3050233 BTC, worth around $ 2,906 at the time of reception.

How Roswell Bitcoin's reserves will be used

The intention of the capital UFO is that the reserves have funds for no less than 10 years, after which the product can be used to mitigate a percentage, up to 100%, of the water bills of all the elderly people of Roswell.

In addition, after the value of the reserves exceeding $ 1 million, Bitcoin holdings can be used as “liquid emergency fund”. To be more precise, up to 21% of the value of the reserves can be used every five years for help in the event of a disaster – but only with the unanimous approval of the Roswell Municipal Council.

Although 2025 has not been an excellent year for BTC yields so far, the main cryptocurrency has shown signs of resilience and has recently shown price actions that are not correlated with the stock market. In addition, as Roswell Bitcoin's reserves will be financed exclusively from donations and sponsorships, the city are not exposed to any financial risk of the volatility of cryptocurrency.
