German Preliminary GDP expands 0.2% QoQ in Q1, as expected

- German GDP rose 0.2% QOQ in Q1 compared to 0.2% forecast.
- The annual German GDP declined 0.2% to Q1 compared to -0.2% expected.
- EUR/USD remains defensive below 1.1400 after the German Q1 GDP report.
The German economy expanded 0.2% in the quarter in the first quarter of 2025, following a 0.2% backdown in the last quarter of 2024, according to preliminary data published by Destatis on Wednesday. Markets expect a 0.2% growth in reported periods.
Meanwhile, the annual GDP rate dropped 0.2% to Q1 after -0.2% recorded in Q4 and an expected reading of -0.2%.
Separately, the German unemployment rate remained at 6.3% in March.

German data failed to provide any Euro (EUR) support, leaving the EUR/USD trade of 0.09% less on the day near 1.1375 at the time of press.
